Curse

I'm looking to start a N/W, i've mainly been doing Warrior as 1st prof, but would like to try something new, but still be somewhat as a tank.

Can someone help me out with a build w/ sword, what else can i put in from Necro side? so i can still be a kinda tank. ya know a sword slashing, energy/health stealing freak

btw - strickly PvE (for now)

You can try using life syphon and life transfer on your enemies to get a constant regeneration while they degen. Also vampire touch can give you a quick and up close heal if you need to stay alive for a little bit longer.

depends what kind of enemies you want to take on. with sword as main weapon i'd go with a blood and curses build. blood to (obviously) keep your hp up and curses to give your attacks a little extra bite (mark of pain + flurry/frenzy)

against enemies that like to swarm you something like suffering + feast of corruption + unholy feast will work well. In areas with enemies that take you on 1 at a time lifetransfer and such will be more useful. thing to worry about though is some of those spells do take a bit of time to cast.

Disciplined Stance, Shield Stance (& Gladiator's Defense {Elite}) might help with that problem (as in not taking damage from non-spell mobs while casting).
(Cyklone axe followed by Bonetti's Defense then some AoE spell usually works good against rushing melee mobs).

DO NOT CARRY FENZY ON A NECRO PRIMARY.

Don't carry a shield. The added armor isn't worth the added mana you'd get from Necro off-hand items (which will often have armor/health boosts of their own).

Personally, I use an Axe and make sure to always carry Well of Blood to help out my fellow melee fighters.

Agreed. I use sword though for a good finishing combo and only use Blood Well in PvE.

Bah pve... In that case get mark of pain and own things with that and cyclone axe. You'll find curses compliments your damage more, if you want to use blood, you'll be able to heal yourself a tiny bit, but nothing like the monk secondary can do. Ruins the purpose of a warrior/necro in my opinion.
